The State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners have announced Harley Daniels, a pitcher and first baseman from Mount Vernon High School has joined the team for the 2023 season.

The Lady Cardinals have been as dominant as you could ask for in conference play after wins last week against Stockton and Pierce City. They sit at an undefeated 7-0 in conference with just one final senior night matchup against Marionville remaining this week.

The Mt. Vernon High School Coquettes performed in the Annual Sugar Bears Invitational over the weekend. The group entered the POM category and brought home third Place in the Class 1A/2A division. Junior Amari Tudor also entered in the Solo category.

The Cardinals have lived or died from the three ball this year and it proved to be too much in a Friday night showdown against Lockwood, in a marquee win for Miller. The shooting didn’t translate in their other two match ups as they also fell to Pleasant Hope and Ash Grove in a busy week.

It was a busy week for the Miller Lady Cardinals as they played three conference games in four days. Miller made the most of the three games going 3-0 winning by a combined 98 points.

Despite a tough season up to this point, Aurora finally claimed a marquee win this season to the detriment of their arch rivals, the Mt. Vernon Mt'neers, 71-54.

The early 2000’s was a bright time for Miller softball as they appeared in four straight Final Fours, coinciding with the legendary career of Hailee Hendricks Fury. The Lady Cardinals finished third in 2004 and 2005 before playing in the championship, but falling to Silex 4-2 in 2006.

It was a packed house in Miller, Friday night for a super night that featured both boys and girls teams playing, the jersey retirement of softball legend, and it was homecoming.
