The Mt. Vernon girls’ golf team wrapped up another successful season this last week. The team is led by senior duo, Madi Phillips and Courtnee Bishop. The Lady Mt’neers placed in every golf tournament they played in this year, and state was no different.

In an upset effort, the Monett Cubs football squad downed the Mt. Vernon Mt’neers at Burl Fowler Stadium on Friday, Oct. 25, the final game of the regular season. The game, in which both teams played with a lot of grit and determination, saw the score tied twice in the fourth quarter.

The Florida College System Activities Association recently announced its 2023-2024 All-Academic Team. This year 1,324 total students participating in FCSAA programs were recognized for having achieved a minimum 3.3 GPA on a 4.0 scale during the 2023-2024 academic year.

Mt. Vernon High School girls golf competed in the Big 8 Conference Championship on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Shifferdecker Golf Course in Joplin and were named the Big 8 Conference Champions with three top 15 medalists.
