Mt’neer legend Klein lands head coach job with Clever Bluejays

Zack Klein was one of the all-time greats during his stint as a Mt’neer basketballer from 2006-2010. Now, he will find his home about 25 minutes east in the halls of Clever High School as the new head coach for the Bluejays.

Miller names new basketball coaches for coming school year

Miller basketball was placed in great hands the last few years when Sean Price came to lead the Cardinals back in 2020. The defense-minded coach led the Cardinals to a 21-8 season in the 2020-2021 season that saw Miller win their first district championship in 10 years.

Action is picking up across the state on the diamond, but it was just as hot at the track and field state championships as four Miller Cardinals led the county. Aurora and Mt. Vernon both added two athletes in the class three competition.

Miller’s softball run ends in quarterfinals at hands of Jasper Lady Eagles

The Miller Lady Cardinals softball run ended last week as Jasper defeated Miller, 10-0.
It was a packed house in Jasper as nearly 1,200 people gathered in a town of 500 for the battle of the birds between the Lady Cardinals and Lady Eagles.

Miller baseball ends in hard-fought battle

The Miller Cardinals baseball squad has struggled a bit this season following a tremendous 19-5 season a year ago. They sit at just 6-10 heading into the Class 2 District 12 tournament where they received the bottom seed. They opened the tournament taking on the three-seed Skyline.

This season has been filled with trials and tribulations as the Mt. Vernon baseball team has been starting four freshmen and three sophomores just about all year long.
