ALICE J. (VANDERGRIFT) REESE

Alice J. Reese, 85, of Mt. Vernon passed away on Nov. 23, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born Dec. 6, 1937, to Claude and Ruby (Parnell) Vandergrift, in Miller, one of eight children.
She married Rex Reese on Nov. 17, 1962, in Las Vegas, Nev. They were married for almost 47 years when he passed away on July 28, 2009.
She is survived by three sisters, Rosie Hoffman of Springfield, Shirley (Melvin) Owens of Mt. Vernon and Daisy Garner of Miller; one brother, Jake Vandergrift of Miller; one daughter, Debbie (David) Padilla of Aurora; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Reese; her parents and three brothers, Dewey Vandergrift, Charlie Vandergrift, and Willie Vandergrift.
A graveside service, under the direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, at the Mt. Vernon City Cemetery.
