Come mid-May, Mt. Vernon residents who are hungry for steak will have a new dining option. The owners of Angus Branch Steakhouse, located in Monett, are preparing to open a new restaurant, the Angus Branch Grille, in Mt. Vernon. The restaurant will be located in the building which formally housed Bamboo Gardens on Business I-44.
Megan Golubski, whose family owns the restaurant, said they saw an opportunity in Mt. Vernon and decided to go for it.
“We decided that it would be a good idea for us to have this (restaurant),” she said.
Currently, the restaurant is being refitted. New flooring is being installed, the walls are being treated, and new equipment is being brought in. Golubski said they expect to open Angus Branch Grille around May 13,
and when they do, the restaurant will feature many of the same dining options as the Angus Branch in Monett.
“It’ll be very similar to what we have over at Angus Steakhouse in Monett,” she said. “A little bit smaller (and) not quite as many options, but it will be very, very similar. We will have steaks and burgers and chicken and all that good stuff. We will have the buffet for lunch (from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.). On the weekends, we’ll (also) have a breakfast buffet.”
Golubski said her family decided to expand into Mt. Vernon because they have something unique to offer residents here.
“There’s just not a whole lot like what we do in this area,” she said. “There’s a lot of fast food, and we just wanted some place for Mt. Vernon people and the surrounding area to come down, sit and enjoy their meal while they’re being served.”
In addition to refitting the restaurant, Golubski said they are also hiring staff; she expects they will need about 20 people. Right now, job applications are available at the Mt. Vernon location. Open interviews will take place on Monday, April 8, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
When the restaurant opens, Golubski said she believes Mt. Vernon residents who give the restaurant a chance will find that they will enjoy dining there.
“We just hope that everybody wants to come out and give us a try and see what we can do in this community,” she said.
