Aurora names Pitts new football coach

Aurora has found the successor to Craig Weldy as the head coach of the football Houn’ Dawgs. That will be the former defensive coordinator at West Plains, Brandon Pitts. Weldy retired following his fifth season at the helm for the Houn’ Dawgs, after going 9-3 and winning the Big 8 Championship. He finishes his time in Aurora with a 21-29 record.
Pitts leaves a West Plains program that also lost head coach Matt Perkins to Rock Bridge in Columbia. West Plains is coming off their second straight 10-2 season last year, and haven’t lost more than three games since 2016.
“I have loved my time as a Zizzer. Change is never easy but is needed for growth. With that said, I'm pumped and ready to get the Dawgs Rollin',” Pitts posted on his Twitter account last Monday.
Pitts will have to find a way to replace 12 seniors including standout Aaron Fisher.
