Betty Jean Ebert

Betty Jean Ebert, 73, of Aurora, passed away Dec. 21, 2018, in The Neighborhoods at Quail Creek in Springfield. She was born June 16, 1945, in Lawrence County, to Emil and Edna (Roethemeier) Meyer, whom precede d her in death. She married Jack Ebert in 1966, and they shared 52 years together. During this marriage, they were blessed with two children.
She earned a bachelor of science in education at Southwest Missouri State University in 1967. She taught home economics for 25 years at Marionville High School, and prior to that she taught at Study Middle School in Springfield and Mt. Vernon High School. Ebert enjoyed cooking, sewing, playing cards with friends, traveling and most importantly, spending time with her three granddaughters.
Ebert is survived by: her husband; daughter, Michele (David) Holt; son, Justin (Rebecca) Ebert; brother, Kenneth Meyer; sister, Stella (Charles) Pitts; and three grand daughters. She was preceded in her death by: her parents and brother, Charles Meyer.
There will be a visitation Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, from 10-11:30 a.m., with a memorial service to follow at 11:30 a.m., both in the United Methodist Church in Marionville, under the care of Meadors Funeral Home in Republic.
