STATE REPRESENTATIVE, DIST. 157 CANDIDATES

Mitch Boggs
Age: 50
Occupation:  Missouri State Representative, Construction Business Owner, Truck Wash Business Owner, Cattleman & Farmer
Education: High school
Family: Married to Lynn for 30-plus years, one daughter, seven sons and nine grandchildren
Why should someone vote for you? As a lifelong resident of Lawrence County, I want to advance the Conservative agenda here in the heartland. As your current Missouri State Representative, I'm working hard for the people of Missouri, with just having a piece of Legislation signed into law; HB2116 - No Patient Left Alone. I'm Pro-Life and Pro-Gun, encouraging small business growth, protecting farmers and cattlemen and securing elections. My service to Lawrence County includes: member of the Rural Fire Department Board, volunteer firefighter, Road District Commissioner and Christian minister and missionary.

Wally Long
Age:  62

Occupation:  I am a US Marine Veteran, a retired Federal Correctional Officer, and currently serve as the pastor at Northside Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.

Education: I have a Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies from Liberty University

Family: Sylvia and I have been married 42 years. We have been blessed with eight children, and eight grandchildren with No. 9 on the way.

Why should someone vote for you? I have spent a lifetime in service. As a follower of Jesus Christ, I have done my best to serve and honor him. I have served in churches across the country and around the world, ministering through teaching, preaching and music. I have served my family, helping my children to become successful in whatever they choose to do in life. I have served my nation as a US Marine. I have served my community in tangible ways. I wish now to continue this record of service to the people of Lawrence County as their state representative in Jefferson City.
I currently serve our community as the president of the board for the Tri-County Pregnancy Resource Center, located in Aurora, where we provide services free of charge, to help women and their significant others through all stages of pregnancy, to include support after their child is born. I also serve on the board of the Hope Center in Mt. Vernon, where we help many in our community who find themselves in difficult financial situations. As a local pastor, I serve as a chaplain for the Lawrence County Sheriff's Auxiliary, and have worked closely with pastors from various denominations to organize community wide worship and outreach events.
I have volunteered many hours helping with events in our local schools. I have helped numerous high school ag students perfect their speeches for district and state speech competitions. Many educators in the district support me because they know I will stand up and fight for our schools here in Lawrence County.  I will fight to see that our teachers and staff have what they need to to continue to give our children a stellar education.
