Carl David Young

Carl David Young, 81, of Pierce City passed away Jan. 30, 2021, while at the Communities of the Wildwood Ranch in Joplin.
He was born April 18, 1939 in Pierce City, son of the late Joe C. and Millie Delilah Jane (Stark) Young. He attended Pierce City schools and in 1956, enlisted in the United States Air Force. Following his honorable discharge, he served in the Army National Guard.
Aug. 7, 1959, Carl Young and Shirley Jean Willoughby were united in marriage and to this union three children were born. He and his wife owned and operated Bug Man Pest Control for many years. He was a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by son, David Young, of Pierce City; daughter, Tonya Young, of Pierce City; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, Glen (Mary) Young, of Monett; sisters, Doris Kay Dacy, of Pierce City and Marion Knight, of Monett; sisters-in-law, Joyce (Sam) Rose, of Strafford and Barbara (Lee) Bell, of Mt. Vernon as well as a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife; daughter, Wendy Jo Young; brothers, Jay Presley, Jimmy, Don and Leroy Young and sisters, Sue Hawkins, Ida Mae Hilker, Norma Jean Dacy, Barbara Reno and Nancy Jane Young.
Graveside services with military honors were held Feb. 5, 2021 at the Pierce City Cemetery in Pierce City. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
