Carmen Archer

Carmen Archer of Pierce City, passed away Oct. 17, 2019 at her home. She was born at Berryville, Ark. Jan. 6, 1938 to Oleta and Ernest Summers of Grandview. She attended Berryville Schools and graduated as valedictorian of her class of 1955. Her college degrees were from the University of Arkansas and SMU Springfield.
She spent 42 years as a teacher and librarian in Verona, Pierce City, and Monett. For a number of years, she served as curriculum director for the SW Missouri Migrant Center. She was married to John Archer in 1964. She was an active member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Monett.
She is survived by: children, Tracey (Chris) Oswald of Eureka and Bradley Archer of Pierce City; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Linda (Thom) Townsend of Fayetteville, Ark.; and brother, Paul (Linda) Summers of Berryville, Ark.
 A memorial service was held at First Christian Church in Monett Oct. 21, 2019. A reception followed at the church. Arrangements were entrusted to the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City.
