Carolyn Sue Hawkins

Carolyn Sue Hawkins, 76, of Pierce City, passed away at Freeman Hospital in Joplin. She was born Nov. 1, 1942, in Pierce City, to the late Joe and Millie Young. She attended Pierce City School and worked at Jayzee garment factory as well as Jumping Jack shoe factory for many years. She was an avid reader, enjoyed bird watching, tending to her beautiful roses and spending time with family.
Hawkins is survived by: daughter, Cheryl (Raymond) Mettlach, of Pierce City; son, Scott (Kimberly) Hawkins, of St. Joseph; brothers, Carl Young, of Pierce City, Glen (Mary) Young, of Monett; and sisters, Kay Dacy, of Pierce City and Marion Knight, of Monett; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents; son, Darel Wayne Hawkins; brothers, Jay Presley, Jimmy Young, Don Young and Leroy Young; sisters, Ida Mae Hilker, Norma Jean Dacy, Barbara Reno and Nancy Jane Young.
Services were held at Buchanan Funeral Home Feb. 23, 2019. Burial followed at the Pierce City Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett.
