Charlotte Lee (Frost) Cloud

Charlotte Lee (Frost) Cloud, 93, of Monett passed away Jan. 14, 2021, in the comfort of her home.
Cloud was born on Dec. 4, 1927 in the family home north of Carthage in the Mt. Moriah Community of Jasper County. She was the first child born to the late Aaron Jackson Frost and Edna R. (Melugin) Frost. She graduated from Jasper High School with the class of 1946. She then furthered her education at Joplin Junior College.
In August of 1946, she began her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse, having taught children in both Barton and Jasper counties.
On Dec. 24, 1949 in Carthage Charlotte and Calvin R Cloud were united in marriage. To this union, four children were born.
Shortly after moving from Carthage to Monett in 1954, she began in-home childcare at her house on Central Ave. In 1972, she was licensed by the state of Missouri and began operating Cloud Daycare in her home location on North Eisenhower. She retired from daycare service at the age of 87.
She was an active member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, where she taught Sunday school and tended the nursery.
On Oct. 14, 2000, Calvin preceded her in death. Also preceding her, a brother, Thomas Jackson “T.J.” Frost.
Survivors include her children, Dr. Keith (Kandence) Cloud of Jackson, Tenn., Carolyn Cloud, of Carthage, Kevin Cloud, of Monett and Kerri Cloud, of Monett; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and sister, Arletta Frost.
Friends paid their respects Jan. 17, 2021 at Buchanan Funeral Home. For the well-being of everyone’s health, private family services will he held. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Memorials have been suggested to First Christian Church or Shriners Hospitals for Children in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
