Annual Mt. Vernon city junk collection helps citizens discard unwanted items
The city of Mt. Vernon held its citywide cleanup on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27. The cleanup, which was only open to those living in the city, was a chance for Mt. Vernon residents to clean up old, bulky trash items from their homes and yards. Residents were allowed to haul larger items to the City Maintenance Shed, where city personnel helped off load them for disposal. City workers also provided curb pickup service for residents who were unable to haul their items to the maintenance shed. Items accepted included old furniture, yard waste, water heaters, dishwashers, microwaves and mattresses.
