Darrell W. Nickell

Darrell W. Nickell, 70, of Wheaton, passed away Feb. 3, 2019, at his home.
He was born July 5, 1948, in Alice, Texas, to Lewis Alden and Martha Lucille (Howard) Nickell. In 1967, he was married to Zelma Lee Forgey.
Nickell grew up in Wheaton, where he graduated from high school in 1966. In 1967 he joined the United States Navy serving until 1971. He was a self-employed truck driver and lived in Barry County all his life. He enjoyed trucking and hauling cattle.
Survivors include son, JL (Jo) Nickell of Aurora; daughter, Stacy Brock of Wheaton; brothers, Steven Nickell of Carson City, Nev., Stan Nickell of Boise, Idaho, Lewis Nickell of Rock Springs, Wyo. and Jay Nickell of Douglas, Wyo.; sister, Sharon Holtwick of Douglas, Wyo.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Don Nickell.
Services were held Feb. 7, 2019, at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton. Burial with military honors was held at Reddick Cemetery in Garfield, Ark. Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
