Deborah Ann Diaz

Deborah Ann Diaz, 66, of Joplin, passed away Oct. 9, 2019 at her home. She was born July 22, 1953 to  William and Alberta (Younts) Brown, in Wichita, Kan. She grew up in the Aurora area. She was employed at the Tuberculosis Sanitorium in Mt. Vernon and graduated from Aurora High School. Soon after she moved to California.
In 1972, she married Frank Diaz, Jr. In 2016 she moved to Joplin. During her time in Joplin, she was a member of The Sanctuary of Joplin Church and previously employed with Monett Health Care of Monett and Magnolia Manor of Purdy.
Survivors include: sons, Chris Diaz, of Joplin, William Diaz, of Nipomo, Calif. and Brian (Rebecca) Diaz, of Nipomo, Calif.; stepsons, Orlando Diaz, of Nipomo, Calif. and Frank Diaz, III, of Litchfield, Conn.; brothers, Tim (Carrie) of Aurora and Brian Brown of Aurora; sisters, Sherry (Gary) Whisman of Guadalupe, Calif., LaDonna Hillis, of Cassville and Charlotte Brown, of Tulsa, Okla.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: Frank Diaz, Jr.; sisters, LaWanna Young and Linda Dillion; and one grandson.
Visitation will be held Oct. 25 from 6-8 p.m. at The Sanctuary of Joplin 1831 S. Conner ave. (corner of 19th and Conner) Joplin. Celebration of life service will be Oct. 26 at 5 p.m. at the Sanctuary of Joplin. Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory, Joplin.
