DELORES JEAN MILLER

Delores Jean Miller, age 87, passed away on January 21, 2025. Delores was born on a farm in Mt. Vernon, Missouri on March 8, 1937; to Leonard and Doralee (Eubanks) Stearns.
Delores graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1955. Later that summer she met a handsome, blue-eyed boy from Aurora named Bob Miller. They eloped six weeks later, on August 26, 1955; the next 10 years brought five children.
Delores and Bob enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends. She was known for her delicious fried chicken. Delores enjoyed her days outside gardening and spending time with her beloved pets. Her evenings were spent on the porch watching the deer and listening to the birds with Bob. One of her favorite pastimes was fishing with Bob, her kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a proud mother and supporter of the MVHS football team 1978 state champs.
Delores was a lifelong member of Mt. Vernon First Baptist Church where she taught children’s Sunday school. After raising their five children, Bob and Delores traveled across the United States delivering boats to various ports and Naval bases.
Delores is survived by her children: Christy and Phil Lee, Gina and Boudy Kroamer, Rob and Kerry Miller, Cindy and Mark Skidmore, and Vickie and Jeff Gammill; 10 grandchildren and spouses; 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Beverley Ploth and Murlene Loveless; two sisters-in-law, Ann Forrester and Kay (David) Hood and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by Bob, her husband of 67 years; her parents, Leonard and Doralee Stearns; infant brother, Melvin Leon; granddaughters, Heather Kroamer and Amanda Rabb; and in-laws, Noel and Mildred Miller.
No services are planned at this time. Arrangements are being made by Fossett-Mosher Funeral home in Mt. Vernon.
