Delorise M. “Dee” Edwards

Delorise M. “Dee” Edwards, 97, of Joplin, passed away Nov. 8, 2018, at a local nursing center.
Edwards was born March 12, 1921, in Freistatt to the late John Henry Meyer and Anna Hagemeier Meyer. She graduated from Monett High School in 1939, and worked as an assistant librarian with the Monett Library. She then went to work for Taralton McDonald Engineering Company while they built Camp Crowder. After the completion of Camp Crowder, she worked in Civil Service at Camp Crowder for several years. She then moved to Torrance, Calif. for a while before returning to Joplin in 1961, where she worked for Gold Building Supply Company for many years before retiring in the early 1980’s. Edwards was an active member of Forest Park Baptist Church where she volunteered for several groups. She was involved with the Vision News Letter, and enjoyed her time with the New Beginnings Group, and loved being a greeter on Sunday mornings.
She is survived by: daughter, Jessica Allen; two granddaughters; five great-grandsons; and a host of family. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Edwards, who passed away in 1989; and her sister, Helen Marie Gold.
A graveside service was held Nov. 13, 2018, at 11 a.m. in Zion Evangelical Memorial Cemetery near Stotts City. Memorials may be made to Integrity Hospice and Home Care.
