Dennis Ray Franzen

Dennis Ray Franzen, 70, of Aurora, passed away Aug. 5, 2019, at the St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.  He was born March 12, 1949, in Algona, Iowa, to Louis H. and Dolores M. (Black) Franzen.
Franzen was a 1967 graduate of Titonka High School in Titonka, Iowa and attended college in Fort Dodge, Iowa where he received his biochemical engineering degree. He worked as an assembler and supervisor for 29 years at Miracle Recreation Equipment Company, in Monett. He enjoyed going to swap meets and was a breeder of Flemish giant rabbits. He was a member of the Harvest Fellowship Church in Aurora. In 2008, he married Jackie Alberding in Aurora.
Franzen is survived by: his wife; mother, Dolores Franzen, of Algona, Iowa; five daughters, Michelle Stewart, of Iowa, Kristina Franzen of Springfield, Kelly Franzen of Aurora, Kim Hurst and her husband, Justin, of Neosho and Trisha Setters of Aurora; son, Justin (Jenny) Setters of Aurora; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one sister, Emma Jean Kurtzleben, of Titonka, Iowa. He was preceded in death by: his father; son, Jeff Franzen; and brother, Larry Franzen.
A celebration of life was held Aug. 13, 2019, at the Harvest Fellowship Church in Aurora under the direction of the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora. Burial will be held at a later date at the Spring River Cemetery in Verona. Online condolences may be shared at
