Don W. Mathis

Don W. Mathis went to be with his heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 12, 2019. He passed quietly on his farm in Miller, Missouri, doing what he loved.
He was born on March 16, 1938, to Bethel and Fannie Mathis in Carrollton, Missouri. He was a graduate of Carrollton High School and entered into the United States Army National Guard following graduation. He married the love of his life, Lynne Crawford, in September of 1961.
Don was employed as a district manager for UPS, then after moving to Springfield, Missouri, he worked for Yellow Freight System until his retirement. While with Yellow Freight, Don and Lynne moved to Halltown, Missouri, where they began farming. Later, they moved to a larger farm where they began raising Limousin cattle. He was a lifetime member of the Limousin Association.
Don loved to hunt, fish and raise/show hunting dogs in his younger years. He loved to show horses and he raced barrels and poles in the local area. He loved spending time with family and friends and working on the farm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jack Mathis and wife Mary Jo; his brother-in-law, Robert McGuire; and nephew, Nathion Schmidt.
Don is survived by his wife and best friend of over 55 years, Lynne Mathis; his daughter, Dawn (Missy) McCoy and husband Kenny; his son, Michael Mathis and wife Olivia; his sisters, Mary Jane McGuire and Linda Kay; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
