Donald Ray Smith

Donald Ray Smith, 96, of Purdy passed away Sept. 12 at his home in Purdy. He was born in Purdy on Oct. 7, 1923 to the late Audrey Malone and Lottie Ann (Myers) Smith. He was married in 1942 in Purdy to Wanda Hayes; she preceded him in death in 2004.
He was a retired maintenance supervisor for Lawrence Livermore Labs, a veteran of the United States Navy serving his country during World War II and he was a member of the New Site Baptist Church in Monett.
He is survived by: daughters: Chere Snider of Monett and Jeanie Cash of Purdy; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Sept. 17 at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett. Funeral services were held Sept. 18 at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Chapel in Monett. Burial followed services at the Arnhart Cemetery in East Purdy. Memorials may be made to the New Site Building Fund. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett.
