Denise Massie
Age: 54
Occupation: Chief Deputy Assessor, Lawrence County Assessor’s office.
Education: Graduate of Fair Play High School
Family: I am married to my husband, Matt, of 34 years. Matt has been employed by the University of Missouri Southwest Research, Extension and Education Center in Mt. Vernon for 35 years. We have two children, Megan and Jarrett. Megan and her husband, Cole, have two sons and live in Lockwood. Megan is an Adjunct Faculty at MSSU in the Dental Hygiene Program, they also own and operate Warren Agri Products. Our son, Jarrett, has his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Southwest Baptist University and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Physical Therapy at SBU. I have been a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt Vernon for 31 years.  Also, I am currently serving my sixth year as treasurer of the Lawrence County Extension Council.
Why should someone vote for you? With my 23 years of experience in the Lawrence County Assessor’s office, I have assisted in many areas of county government. I am experienced in geographical mapping, deed documents, legal descriptions, data entry, tax assessment and performing year end closing reports. I have worked with appraisers, title searchers, land surveyors and realtors to assist with deed research and map analysis. I am very familiar with the job duties and responsibilities of the recorder of deeds. I will utilize my 23 years of experience to continue a strong working relationship between the county assessor’s office and the recorder of deeds. I am dedicated to serving the citizens of Lawrence County and I will continue to serve respectfully and effectively with professional integrity in all areas of the office as the recorder of deeds.
