EVA JUNE (ESTES) SHARP

Elva June (Estes) Sharp, 83, passed away peacefully on Oct. 19, after a brief illness. She was born in Dodge City, Kan., on May 13, 1933.
She married Robert Eugene Sharp in Dodge City on April 11, 1953, and they celebrated 69 years of marriage last spring. They moved to the Monett area in 1965 and have called it home ever since.
She held an MA degree in Education from Missouri State University and was an elementary school teacher in the Purdy School system until her retirement in the mid-1990s.
She is survived by her husband; her son Kevin Sharp and daughter-in-law Erin Riordan of Memphis, Tenn., her daughter Susan Thomas and son-in-law Clay Thomas of Schertz, TX, and two granddaughters, Samantha Thomas of Kansas City and Casey Thomas of Ames, IA. Elva and a host of nieces and nephews, who called her Aunt June, and many friends and acquaintances, who appreciated her wit and unique sparkle.
A visitation and service was held at Buchanan Funeral Home (301 Euclid) in Monett on Monday, Oct. 24.
