Flavia Lenora Friar

Flavia Lenora Friar, 97, of Miller, passed away July 16, 2019, at the Webco Manor in Marshfield. She was born Oct. 20, 1921, in the Round Grove community, the daughter of Flavius Lane and Nancy Elda Evelyn (Casteel) Shaffer.
Friar was a 1939 graduate of Miller High School and received her teaching certificate from Missouri State Teachers College in Springfield. She and her husband, Kenneth, owned and operated the Miller Press for many years. She was a member of the Round Grove Church and attended the Miller Baptist Church, prior to moving to Marshfield in 2006, to be closer to her family. She liked to play pitch with friends at the senior center, work the daily jumble and watch the Lady Bears and the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1942, she married Kenneth Floyd Friar, in Mt. Vernon. He preceded her in death in 1995.
Friar is survived by: daughter, Kenda (Dick) Thomas of Marshfield; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Flavius and Nancy; husband, Kenneth; son, Bill Friar; and sister, Georgia Washam.
A visitation was held July 19, 2019, at the Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home in Miller with a graveside service that followed at the Shiloh Cemetery.
