Frostbite 5K a run-away hit

Runners of all ages take off at the starting line of Saturday’s Frostbite 5K.

Brian Botts, dressed as the Flash, discusses the route with Payton Duwe just prior to the run.

Adorned in bright blue hair, Amanda Bradshaw reads an introduction to open the event.

Frostbitten in name only were more than 80 runners at last Saturday’s Frostbite 5K held on the Mt. Vernon square. Beautiful weather accompanied the third annual run/ walk which included medals, a fire pit and s’mores for everyone who finished. The turnout more than doubled last year’s participation.
“Great weather, great participants, and s’mores at the finish line, what better way to start a Saturday. We appreciate everyone who participated, sponsored and helped with the Frostbite 5K,” said organizer Patti McBride.
In total, $1,287.34 was raised for the American Cancer Society.
