Gary Leon Harner

Gary Leon Harner, 80, of Monett passed away Jan. 24, 2021. He was born in Monett on April 5, 1940; the son of the late Elby Leon and Thelma (Anderson) Harner. He was united in marriage on June 21, 1959 in Monett to Carol Jo Boedecker; to this union two sons were born.
He was a 1958 graduate of Monett High School, after graduating he was drafted into the Army and served in Germany as Military Police between 1961 and 1964. He was saved in Christ and always faithful to the Lord, and attended First Freewill Baptist Church and Hill Creek Church, He was retired, having worked for Jumping Jack Shoes as a foreman and EFCO in the maintenance department. He was a former Boy Scout Leader (Troop 38 Monett) and former Commander of the American Legion, as well as worked for the Corp of Engineers at Indian Point and Cape Fair for 10 years.
He is survived his wife, Carol; sons, Steven L. (Tiffany) Harner of Monett, and Dennis (Monica) Harner of Harrison, Ark.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Roxie.
Visitation was held Jan. 28, 2021 at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett. Funeral services were held Jan. 29, 2021 at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Chapel in Monett. Burial followed services at the Monett I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Monett.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett.
