George “Thomas” Beck

George “Thomas” Beck, 90, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Jan. 28, 2019, at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center. He was born June 14, 1928, in Verona, to Floyd and Awta (Edwards) Beck.
Beck worked in the refrigeration department at the Mid Am Dairy in Monett. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play sports especially football. He loved working on cars or anything mechanical and was a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan. In 1947, he married Catherine Leath in Mt. Vernon.
 Beck is survived by: his wife of 71 years; daughter, Sue (Gary) Shuckahosee of Mt. Vernon; brother, Floyd (Donna) Beck of Nixa; one granddaughter; four great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren;
He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Sherman Beck, Herman Beck, Virgil Beck, and Walter Beck; sisters, Mary Beck McGehee, Ollie Mae Beck McGehee, Awta Faye Beck Hubbard and Alta Marie Beck Hendrickson; and an infant child.
A visitation was held Jan. 31, 2019, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with a funeral service that followed in the funeral home chapel. Online condolences may be shared at www.FossettMosherFuneralHome.com.
