Herbert “Rick” Dean Ayers

Herbert “Rick” Dean Ayers, age 70, of Green Forest, Arkansas, passed away February 7, 2021. He was born September 12, 1950, in Reeds Spring, Missouri, the son of Herbert and Ruby (Hardin) Ayers.
A charismatic and independent man, Rick touched many lives. From his work in the oil fields to his passion for trucks and old cars, Rick made many friends in his life. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working with horses. “PePaw”, as he was known by his grandkids, loved the time he spent with his family. Rick will be missed dearly by the many lives he had an influence on.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his “adopted” parents, Walt and Helen Simpson; three brothers: Fred, Ted, and Butch; as well as a daughter, Melissa Ann Ayers.
Rick is survived by two daughters, Andrea Peacock and husband Ty of Carl Junction, Missouri, Jennifer Ayers-Stewart and husband Jamie of Springfield, Missouri; his four grandchildren: Connar Ayers, Melissa Nickel, Christopher Nickel, and Lauren Stewart; the mother of his surviving children, Sherri Vandergrift of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; a brother, Carlos Ayers and wife Marilyn of Lampe, Missouri; sister-in-law, Patsy Ayers of Forsyth, Missouri; sister-in-law, Theresa Ayers of Verona, Missouri; several nieces, nephews and cousins; his best friend, Robert Sims of Enid, Oklahoma; as well as several other friends.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Evan, Austin, and all the first responders that came to his aid.
An informal celebration of life will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Rick may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation www.cff.org/give-today/. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
