Houn’ Dawgs advance to Crane Tournament Championship in slow week; look to Monett
Aurora tipped off the Crane tournament Jan. 11 with a convincing 75-43 win over the Clever Blue Jays, but COVID complications forced the tournament to be postponed. They finally got their chance to advance to the championship game in a Lawrence County showdown with the Marionville Comets. The Comets started fast but the Houn’ Dawgs were too much as Aurora downed Marionville 66-62, in a fantastic game.
The Dawgs were also scheduled to host Logan Rogersville last week but as with the rest of the Ozarks under snow, that game was postponed to this week.
The win moves Aurora to 14-5 and have tied the 2017 team with the most wins in a season since 2016, when they went 19-10. They will be back in action this week as they took on Springfield Catholic, Tuesday and Logan Rogersville, Wednesday before traveling to Reeds Spring, Friday. They will also compete for the Crane Tournament championship Saturday at 6:30 p.m. against another familiar foe in backyard rival Monett.
