More than 300 community members partook in a free meal provided by the Mt. Vernon Area Chamber of Commerce at the May 16 Community Appreciation lunch held at the Chamber office. The outdoor affair was highlighted by free grilled burgers from Gleonda Farms.
“The Chamber Board invested in a great idea this year for our annual Community Free Lunch by purchasing beef from a member, The Farm Shop at Gleonda Farms,” said Chamber Executive Director Pam Dudley. “Board members grilled up delicious Certified Angus Beef burgers served with chips and a drink. Over 300 hungry members, neighbors and friends enjoyed as tables filled up quickly. Some visitors even threw down blankets in Wynne Park under a shade tree.”
The dessert was also provided by an MVACC member.
“Dinner’s Done whipped up a light dessert to finish off the luncheon,” Dudley said. “We had fun visiting with our community and look forward to next year.”
