Jack Wendell Wise

Jack Wendell Wise,100, passed away May 19, 2020. He was born Oct. 3, 1919, to Clifford and Chloe Wise in Stone County.
Wise graduated from Crane High School in 1938 after lettering in basketball for four years. He served his country entering the U.S. Army in 1941 and was honorably discharged in 1945 after serving in Company “F” of the 160th infantry division. He did service in California, Hawaii, Luzon Philippines, and Bismarck Archipelago New Guinea. After WWII ended, Jack returned home to his farming life of raising livestock, crops, milking cows, and gardening. Jack and Joan raised their family on the farm in Crane and for many years thereafter before they retired and moved to Aurora.
Wise is survived by: wife Joan, of 72 years; daughters, Gloria Branstetter of Nixa and Kathy (Jim) Medlin of Aurora; son, Kenneth (Angie) Wise of Crane; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and in-laws. He was preceded in death by: sisters, Anna Lee Williams, Ollie Fravel, Ruth Mae Stephens, and Virginia Cox; infant daughter and daughter, Carolyn Kay Wise Woody; and an infant great-grandchild.
A private family service was held May 22, 2020, at the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora with a graveside service that followed for friends and family at the Crane Community Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.CraftonCantrellFuneralHome.com.
