JAMES “JJ” MARVIN JOHNSON

James “JJ” Marvin Johnson, 79, formerly of Monett passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Ark. He was born April 10, 1944 in Rolla, the son of Elmer Levi Johnson and Alta Edna Plank Johnson.
He graduated from Monett High School in 1962 and served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969.
He married Lynda King in 1970, forming a blended family with her two children, daughter, Jackie and son, Shannon and together they had two sons, Greg, who passed away only days after being born, and Stephen. They were married for 16 years.
He is survived by his sister, Elner Medlin of Springfield; daughter, Jackie (Jeff) Pollard of Woburn, Mass.; sons, Shannon (Rachel) Johnson of Spring Hill, Tenn. and Stephen Johnson of Ponca City, Okla.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Elmer “Bud” Johnson; sisters, Mary Fortney and Helen Fritz; and son James Greggory Johnson.
Memorial services were held on Monday, March 18, at Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett with Reverend Stephen Johnson officiating. Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield.
