James Loren Etter

James Loren Etter, 79, of Sarcoxie, passed away March 30, at his daughter’s home after a brief hospital visit.
Etter was born Sept. 3, 1939, in Monett to the late Oscar and Martha (Douthitt) Etter. He proudly served in the United States Army, returning home in 1963. He married Judy Ann VanAmber in 1968. Together they shared 51 years. After more than 31 years of dedicated service he retired from BNSF Railroad. He was a member of the VFW post of Monett. He enjoyed working on the farm and spending time with family and friends.
Etter is survived by: his wife, Judy; children, Janie (Randy) Wormington, Margaret (Tim) Chappell, Theresa (Darren) Ross, James (Julie) Etter and Doug (Eija) Etter; sisters, Margaret Meadows and Lenna Garrett; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Martha Etter; first wife, Nora (May) Etter; and sister, Millie (Etter) Dawson.
Funeral services were held April 5, at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie. Burial with full military honors followed at VanBuren Cemetery in Wentworth.
