James O. “Jim” Winton

James O. “Jim” Winton, 81, of Monett, passed away Aug. 15, 2019, while at Lacoba Nursing Home in Monett.
Winton was born Oct. 26, 1937 in Arkansas City, Kan. to the late Elmer B. and Jewel (Elrod) Winton. He graduated from Monett High School with the class of 1955. He served his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corp. He retired from Vaisey-Bristol Shoe Company in Monett after 30 years of employment. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and always loved getting together with his family. In 1963, he married Jane Nowak at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pulaskifield and to this marriage two children were born.
Survivors include: his wife; son, Brian Winton of Monett; and daughter, Denise (Jim) Haston Monett; one grandson; brother, Gary (Freeda) Winton of Pierce City; and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside service were held at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Pulaskifield, Aug. 17, 2019. Memorials may be made to the St. Lawrence Catholic School. Arrangements were entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home.
