JANET SUE (DUKE) WINSOR

Janet Sue (Duke) Winsor, 86, departed this life on Monday, February 27, 2024, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri. The daughter of the late Monroe and Clarice (Pennington) Duke, she was born on November 14, 1937, in Sarcoxie, Missouri.
She married Richard Winsor on March 13, 1964, at the First Christian Church in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. They were blessed with two daughters.
Janet and Richard enjoyed camping. That was their life after the girls left home.
Janet was a woman of many talents. She always said her most important job was being a mother. She poured her life into her children and never missed an opportunity supporting them. She also was Grandma and Na-Na to six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She loved making quilts, clothes, etc. for them while they were growing up. She loved making beautiful crafts and sewing.
If you knew Janet, you knew her grandbabies and great-grandbabies were the center of her life. She tried to show them how to do things and showed them how important they were to her, and they knew she read her Bible every day.
Janet accepted Christ as her Savior when she was 10 years old. She and Richard were faithful to attend church as long as he was able, and in the last few years she was unable to get out as much to go.
She is survived by her sister Maxine Brashers of Marionville; two daughters - Cindy (Greg) Smith of Springfield, and Connie (Loren) Roe of Prospect, Tenn. and “son” Michael (Perrie) Hudson of Crane; six grandchildren - Zachary (Leslie) Smith of Springfield, Amber (Greg) Chapman of Carthage, Bethany Hicks of Prospect, Tenn., Michael (Carolyn) Smith of Athens, Ala., Joel (Lindsey) Hicks of Prospect, Tenn., and Jacob (Michelle) Roe of Elkmont, Ala.; and 12 great-grandbabies - Olivia, Noah, Zane, Adley, Lane, Hunter, Hollis, Tucker, Hadley, Tylyn, George and Benjamin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; seven sisters - Lucille, Doris, Evelyn, Dixie, Barbara, Jean and Bonnie; three brothers - Ronnie, Harlan and Wayne; and four angel great-grandbabies.
She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Visitation and funeral services were held on Thursday, February 29, at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home with burial in Hazelwood Cemetery.
