Janie A. Derby

Janie A. Derby, 61, of Aurora, passed away Sept. 23 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. She was born Oct. 22, 1958, in Aurora, the daughter of John William and Joyce Arlene (Reuter) Asher.
Derby was a 1977 graduate of Aurora High School and worked for the T-Mobile call center in Springfield. Derby ran a food charity for eight years with the First Presbyterian Church and as a stand-alone charity in Aurora and helped with donations to feed disadvantaged children and their families around Christmas. She made and sold her own soup and dip mixes and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Aurora.
Derby is survived by: daughter, Mary Derby, of Omaha, Neb.; son, John Derby, of Denver, Colo.; sister, Joyce Anderson, of Centennial, Colo. and brother, Ron Asher, of Virginia Beach, Va.  She was preceded in death by: her parents.
A graveside service, under the direction of the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, in Aurora, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora.
