Jerry Drane West passed away on Sunday, February 23rd, 2020 at the age of 86.
The son of Jerry and Noval Drane West was born November 12th, 1933 in Springfield, Missouri.  As a young boy he grew up in Fordland, Missouri.  There he attended high school graduating in 1952.  Shortly after graduating Jerry joined the United States Navy.  He served until being honorably discharged in October of 1956.   He then returned to Springfield.  There he would meet Marie Holifield.  They would begin dating and marry on March 8, 1957.   The newly wed couple made their home in Springfield, where Jerry  enrolled at Southwest Missouri State University.   He received a degree in Industrial Arts and  began teaching  high schools in southwest Missouri. In 1987 Jerry retired from Springfield Public schools.  At that time he and Marie purchased a farm and moved to Mount Vernon, Missouri.  There he loved raising cattle, pigs and sheep.  In 2016 they sold the farm and moved to Claremore to be near their granddaughter.
Jerry had many things he enjoyed.  He loved repairing violins, and even built many over the years.  He enjoyed working on vintage show cars and had a few old muscle cars.  Jerry was always active in his church.  Teaching Sunday School and helping serve in various ways, was something he always enjoyed.  However his true love was his family, and he enjoyed every minute he had with them.
Survivors include his wife Marie of the home; son, Doug West and wife Cynthia of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Erin DeLong and husband Walter of Claremore, and Jeremiah West and wife Karina of Hallandale Beach, Florida; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Isaiah, Elijah, Orion and Abigail, and sisters, Judith Patrick, Freda Collier and Patricia Enloe.
