Jesse D. Fortin

Jesse D. Fortin, 70, of Wentworth, passed away, Oct. 2, 2019 at his home. Fortin was born in Oberlin, Kan. Nov. 25, 1948 to Jim and Rita (Bishop) Fortin. Fortin was married to Karla Wells in 2002. Throughout the years, they were involved in buying and selling cattle, went to farm auctions.
In 1968, he was called to serve in the Vietnam War. After coming home from war, he was faced with challenges but settled down to create a life for his family filled with fun and adventure. He enjoyed camping, canoe trips, fishing, and hunting pheasants in Western Kansas. Fortin worked for B.N.S.F. for 36 years where he built bridges and made many life-long friends.
Surviving are the following: his wife; children, Jeremy (Kalina) Fortin of Pierce City; Carrie Foster of Oronogo; and Sarah Moudy of Taylorville, Ill.; stepson, Bradley Ashton of Sapulpa, Okla.; sisters, Peggy Heidlage of Granby and Connie Houck of Pierce City; brother, Fred Fortin of Wentworth;11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; and many neices and nephews.
Funeral Services were at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, Oct. 8, 2019. Burial followed at Pierce City Cemetery in Pierce City.
