Joan Bigelow Wise

Joan Bigelow Wise passed away Dec. 15, 2020, at the age of 90 years.
She was the first born of six children to John and Opal (Wells) Bigelow. As a child she attended Buck Prairie Baptist Church and accepted Christ at an early age.
She was a graduate of Marionville High School in 1948. She was married to her husband, Jack for 72 years of whom predeceased her on May 19, 2020, at the age of 100 years.
Surviving her are three children, Gloria Branstetter of Nixa, Kathy (Jim) Medlin, of Aurora, and Kenneth (Angie) Wise of Crane; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Johnnie Bigelow and Richard (Sue) Bigelow; sisters, Eva (Bill) Brown, Carol Sue Hargus and Barbara (Carroll) Keen and many nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janet Sue Wise, daughter, Carolyn Kay Wise Woody and an infant great-grandchild.
She worked at “The Reel Sewing Basket” in Crane and in later years, volunteered at the St. John’s Aurora Hospital front desk and a member of the Auxiliary. She volunteered also at the Aurora Christian Service Center.
A funeral service was held Dec. 21, 2020, at the Crafton- Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora. Burial followed at the Crane Community Cemetery in Crane.
