Kenneth Wayne Cook

Kenneth Wayne Cook, 72, of Stark City,  passed away May 4, 2019, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin. He was born Jan. 11, 1947, in Newton County, to Marvin and Lela Mae (Edmonds) Cook. In 1970 he was married to Dorothy Brattin, who survives.
Cook grew up and received his education in Stella where he graduated from high school. In 1965, he joined the United States Air Force serving until Dec. 13, 1968. Most of his life was spent in Newton County where he was a cattle farmer. For 38 years he worked at La-Z-Boy in Neosho. He was a member of Union Chapel Church in Stella and served as superintendent for a few years.
Also surviving are: his mother, Lela Mae Cook of Stella; sons, Allan Cook of Stark City, Randal (Sheba) Cook of Stark City and Kevin (Kristy) Cook of Purdy; brother, Kervyn (Joyce) Cook of Fairview; sister, Glenda Cook (Tom) Bross of Monett; and six grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his father.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., May 9, 2019 at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton. Burial with military honors will be at Dice Cemetery in Fairview. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in memory of Cook.
