Lady Mt’neers rout Greenfield for trip to state quarterfinals
Seven runs in the first inning and 18 total hits spelled a runaway win for Mt. Vernon at home Monday, May 6, in the spring softball state sectionals against Greenfi eld (12-14). The final score favored the home team 16-1 in a run-ruled 5-inning game.
Katlyn Kotlarz pitched another gem, as she gave up just one base hit in the fifth inning, struck out 10 and got another win for Mt. Vernon.
She also starred at the plate, with three hits, including a double, and three RBI’s. Madi Schubert added two hits and three RBI’s and Reagan Prescott had a 3-hit day.
Mt. Vernon will travel for the state quarterfi nal match-up on Thursday, May 9, to the winner of the Forsyth and Purdy game being played after press time.
