Lady Mt'neers win Frontenac Tournament

Three days and three wins gives the Lady Mt'neers first place in the Kansas Army National Guard Invitational last week in Frontenac, KS.
Wins over Blue Springs (60-44), Nevada (65-42) and William Crisman (40-36) cemented the championship for Mt. Vernon.
In the championship game, Caitlin Hicks led the Lady Mt'neers with 13 points, followed by 11 for Cameron Call. Call was named the Tournament MVP and Hicks earned an All-Tournament bid.
Against Nevada in the semi-finals, Mt. Vernon was led by Hicks' 26 points. Call added 15 points, while Lacy Stokes had 11 in the win.
On Thursday, Jan. 17, the Lady Mt'neers opened the tournament against Blue Springs High School. Mt. Vernon jumped out to a 15-7 lead after the first quarter, led by Lyndsey Hood's six first quarter points. By the break, the Lady Mt'neers had control, leading 37-21.
Cameron Call scored seven of her 17 total points in the third quarter and Mt. Vernon opened the tournament with a big win, 60-44.
Hicks led the Lady Mt'neers with 21 points, followed by Call's 17 and Hood added 11.
The Lady Mt'neers will host East Newton on Thursday, Jan. 23 and be home again on Friday, Jan. 25 against Webb City.
