It’s no secret that Lawrence County is a talent hotbed on the baseball diamond. If you have your doubt, look at Gage Singer (who is committed to play at D1 UT-Arlington after playing for JUCO power Crowder for the last two seasons) and Wyatt Sparks (playing for the Down East Wood Ducks in the Texas Rangers organization) from the baseball factory in Aurora. The next wave of Lawrence County standouts will play in SWMO Sports first annual Baseball All-Star game June 15 at US Baseball Park in Ozark.
Mt. Vernon has four representatives, as Braden Dodson and Gavin Johnston will play in the underclassmen game and Brady Brown and Tristan Jones will represent the Mt’neers in the senior game.
Aurora has three players representing. Hayze Hoffman will be teammates with Braden Dodson on Team Hobbs, coached by Blake Hobbs of Gainesville. Aaron Fisher and Trey Mulholland will represent the Dawgs, alongside Jones and Brown for Team Weatherman, led by Alex Weatherman of Marionville.
The Marionville Comets down the road lead the area in number of participants with six, including five seniors joining Brown, Jones, Fisher and Mulholland on team Weatherman. That means nine of 11 members of Team Weatherman will be from Marionville, Aurora and Mt. Vernon.
The inaugural event from SWMO Sports will be held at US Baseball Park in Ozark, Wednesday, June 15, with the underclassmen game starting at 4:30 p.m. and the senior game following at approximately 7 p.m. Locals are encouraged to come out and support your Dawgs, Mt’neers and Comets.
