Lucas "Luke" David Mason

Lucas "Luke" David Mason, 29, of Verona passed away Sunday, June 7, 2020 in his home.
He was born to Howard and Sheri Green-Heseman Mason on October 2, 1990 in Springfield, MO. Lucas was the owner/operator of Mason Lawn Services. Lucas was a one of a kind guy, a heart of gold that loved to go hunting, and fishing. He also loved dirt track racing, Nascar, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas Jayhawks. If you knew "Luke" you knew he loved to have a good time in whatever he was doing at that time. Born and raised in the Verona-Monett area, he loved the small town life here in Verona, he said it's my home and he never wanted to leave it. He was known to patrol the streets of Verona and if something or someone was out of place he would know it. Lucas graduated high school in 2009 from Verona. He attended school in Verona from K-2nd, Monett from the 3rd-8th grade and the returned back to Verona for his high School years. Lucas enjoyed playing baseball, (my favorite 2nd base player), was a heck of a basketball player who loved to make those baskets and loved to drive his race car at the local dirt tracks.  Lucas left behind his father, Howard Mason of Monett, MO.; his mother and step-dad, Sheri and Tim Heseman of Monett, MO.; one sister, Hannah Jo Heseman of Monett, MO.; grandmothers, JoNell Green of Verona, MO. and Sheila Graves of Weatherford, TX.; and his grandfather, Howard Mason Sr. of Hobbs, N.M.; his three children, Kylee Marie (Mason) Hollaway of Monett, MO., Brik Thomas Mason and Alec Byod Dean Mason both of Pierce City, MO. Lucas was welcomed into Heaven by his little brother, Dalton Heseman; granfather, David Green; Uncle, Kevin Wilson; and Cousin, Chad Wilson. He will be missed by many family members and friends. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 14 from 12-3 p.m. in the Peterson Funeral Chapel. The family would like to invite everyone to his house in Verona following until 6:00 p.m. for fellowship. There will be a Celebration of Life and a fish fry at a date to be determined. Arrangements are under the care of Peterson Funeral Chapel.
