Suspect currently held in Greene County Jail, could face 25 years in prison, $750,000 fine for multiple threats

A Marionville man is in custody at the Greene County Jail on behalf of the United States Marshals Service on charges that he allegedly threatened to murder two congressmen.
Kenneth Rodney Hubert, brother to Mt. Vernon police chief Dave Hubert, was booked into the jail on Wednesday, March 3.
Hubert, 63, is facing three felony counts: two counts of threatening to murder or injure a United States official, and one count of communicating a threat to injure. According to the indictment in the case, Hubert threatened to “assault and murder” Representative Steve Cohen of the U.S. House of Representatives on May 6, 2019 “with intent to impede, intimidate, and interfere with Representative Cohen while he was engaged in the performance of his official duties, and retaliate against Representative Cohen on account of the performance of his official duties.”
The indictment also accuses Hubert of making a similar threat to Representative Emanuel Cleaver II on Jan. 7 of this year. It states that Hubert “did threaten to assault and murder Representative Cleaver of the United States House of Representatives, with intent to impede, intimidate, and interfere with Representative Cleaver while he was engaged in the performance of his official duties, and retaliate against Representative Cleaver on account of the performance of his official duties.”
On the final count, the indictment states that on May 6, 2019, Hubert “transmitted in interstate and foreign commerce a communication, through the use of the telephone, to Representative Steve Cohen of the United States House of Representatives and an employee of Representative Cohen’s office, in Washington, D.C., and the communication contained a threat to injure Representative Cohen, knowing that the communication would be understood as a true threat.”
If he is found guilty on all three counts, Hubert faces up to 25 years in prison and a maximum of $750,000 in fines.
