Marquis signs letter of intent to continue at Rockhurst Univ.
Mt. Vernon senior to continue academic and dance career as a Rockhurst University Hawk
On Monday, May 13, Mt. Vernon High School senior Bailey Marquis signed her national letter of intent to continue her academic and dance career as a Rockhurst University Hawk in Kansas City.
Marquis, who has been a member of the Lady Mt’neer cheer team for four years and the Mt. Vernon Coquettes for the past two years, has had a spectacular high school career. She has served on the choreography team for Coquettes for two years, earned Academic All-State Awards at state competitions, and earned the title of All-American Dancer at Universal Dance Association Camp in 2023.
Marquis will be studying nursing and hopes to one day be a pediatric travel nurse.
“I’m really excited to dance at Rockhurst” she said, “I’m really glad I decided to try out for the team.”
Mt. Vernon Coquettes coach, Jordan Barber said, “I had the privilege of coaching Bailey for two seasons as a Mt. Vernon Coquette. I have seen her determination first hand and watched as she continuously pushed herself to achieve greatness at each practice, game and performance. As I watched her grow in dance, I had no doubt in my mind that she could make it on a college team. Fast forward to here at this moment, and I could not be prouder of her and her accomplishments. Bailey is a dynamic talent and I can’t wait to watch her as she continues on her dance journey at Rockhurst. “
