MARY LYNN HOLMES

Mary Lynn Holmes, longtime resident of Springfield (most recently Oak Pointe in Monett) passed away at Mt. Vernon Place Care Center on February 13, 2025, at the age of 81. Born August 21, 1943, in Aurora, Missouri; she was the daughter of Glennon & Ruth (Buchanan) Holmes, who both preceded her in death.
She was raised in Monett where she went to school before attending SMS in Springfield. Mary Lynn’s entire career was spent working in the dental offices of Dr. James Claxton & Dr. Tom Meyer. She took great joy in learning about the lives of all their patients, remembering every detail of the stories they loved to share with her.
Mary Lynn was a longtime member of St. Paul United Methodist Church & later transferred to First & Calvary Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Binnie Clements Guild. She was very active in her church and always sang in the choir.
Her gardens were the envy of the neighborhood. She was active in the Pink Dogwood Garden Club, Friends of the Library and Ozarks Genealogy Association.
Mary Lynn is survived by her brother, Bob (Mary Alison) Holmes; nephew, Ryan (Glenn Mills) Holmes; great niece, Harper Holmes and her niece, Amy Holmes.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, February 21, at Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett with a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Monett.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett.
