Mary Rae Stotts

Mary Rae Stotts, of Monett, passed away Aug. 8, 2019, while at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center in Mt. Vernon.
Stotts was born Jan. 31, 1925 in Grundy County, to Raymond I. Burns and Mary M. Burns. She graduated from Laredo High School in 1943. In 1946, Mary Rae Burns and Vernon Dale Stotts were married. He preceded her in death in 1970. She and her husband started Stotts Engine Service in 1960. She was active in the business until 2017.
She was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Monett where she served as a Sunday school teacher for several years and also worked during vacation bible school. She served as a volunteer at St. John’s/Mercy Hospital in Springfield, then as a volunteer at the Hospice Unit in Mt. Vernon until it closed. She then went back to St. John’s/Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Her hours exceeded 24,000 and included 45 plus years.
She is survived by: sons, Dale (Jane) and David (Cheryl) all of Monett; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson, Cynthia Nason and her husband Matt, of Las Vegas, Nev.
Graveside services were held Aug. 12, 2019 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Monett. Memorials may be made to Crosslines of Monett. Arrangements were entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, 301 Euclid Ave, Monett.
