MICHAEL RAY JONES

Michael Ray Jones, 74, passed away on Monday, May 15, in Aurora. He was born on Oct. 27, 1948 to Willard and Loraine Jones.
He grew up and attended school in Granite City, Ill. and enlisted in the Army. He served from 1968-1972 and was a Vietnam veteran.
He was a Presbyterian by faith. He was a committee chairman for OATS transportation bus service.
He is survived by his special friend, Judi Davis; his son, Kevin Laswell, of Springfield; step-daughter, Karen and her wife Sam Johnson-Pierson, of Crossley, Tenn.; three step-sons, Chris Pierson and his wife Cathy, of St. Louis, Scot Pierson and his wife Alisa, of Springfield and John Pierson, of St. Louis; one brother, Stuart Jones, of Denver, Colo.; two sisters Peggy Kuenkler and Diane Morris, both of Granite City, Ill. as well as other family friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his life partner of 40 years, Lorene Pierson.
He was cremated and a private memorial was held on June 6.
His care has been entrusted to Walnut Lawn Funeral Home and DeGraffenreid-Wood Crematory.
