Miller Lady Cardinals hammer Skyline, repeat as district champions

Miller has now won consecutive district championships, as they forced other Class 2 teams to take notice that this team is for real, leading perennial power Skyline from start to finish on their way to a 57-41 win at Weaubleau Saturday, Feb. 29.
Miller’s standout sophomore class led the way with Kaylee Helton (22 points), Payten Richardson (15 points) and Claudia Hadlock (9 points) scoring 46 of the team’s 57 points.
Miller jumped on top early, leading Skyline 13-5 after one quarter and by seven at the break, 27-20.
The trademark Miller defense took over in the third quarter, allowing just six points to its opponent, while the Lady Cardinals pelted Skyline with 18 points to lead 45-26.
Skyline was able to rally in the fourth quarter but the Lady Cardinals held on for the district title, 57-41.
Miller will take on Crest Ridge this Wednesday, March 4, at State Fair Community College in Sedalia. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m
