Miller Lady Cardinals keep rolling into district tournament

The Miller Lady Cardinals finished the regular season as the undefeated Southwest Conference champions and opened the Class 2 District 11 girl’s basketball tournament at Marionville as the top seed. The squad’s opening round win over the host Lady Comets proved they deserved the top seed, as they scorched Marionville Saturday, Feb. 16, 52-15.
It was a game of streaks for the Lady Cardinals, which opened by scoring the game’s first 11 points to build a 10-point lead after the first quarter, 15-5.
The second quarter started the same way, as Miller sored 15 points in a row and allowed just five in the entire quarter and led 34-10 at the break.
The Lady Cardinals pitched a shutout in the third quarter, outscoring Marionville 11-0 to lead 45-10 through three quarters and 52-15 by the final buzzer.
Freshman Claudia Hadlock led the way for the Lady Cardinals with 15 points, including three 3-pointers. Kaylee Helton added 12 points, while Payten Richardson also scored in double-figures with 10 points.
